Save vs. Splurge: Fall Essentials
If you’re anything like me, you might break out last year’s Fall and Winter clothes at the end of every Summer, in preparation for the cold to come, and feel like you need a refresh.
Updating your seasonal wardrobe doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank. Continue reading and I’ll show you a few essentials for Fall from leading retailers compared to similar products from Neutral Rebel. You’ll see how much you can save by shopping small.
- Long Coat
When I Googled, “grey coat,” one of the first results I saw was the image on the left — a wool blend coat (this means it’s not 100% wool) from the Belle & Bloom brand at Nordstrom Rack. This coat sells for $193.74.
The image on the right is the very similar City Girl Fleece Long Line Coat from Neutral Rebel. The picture might fool you, but our coat also has deep side pockets to hold all your essentials! Though our version is made from polyester over wool, polyester can be machine-washed instead of dry cleaned and can be just as warm. Talk about savings!
2. Ankle Boots
Leather booties have been a Fall and Winter staple for years now. They can be designed and styled so many different ways, but the classic ankle boot is solid leather with a modest wood heel.
The boot on the left is the Marc Fisher LTD Jarli Bootie from Nordstrom and sells for $188.95. Our Made for Walkin’ Booties at Neutral Rebel come in three colors — black, brown, and white — and only cost $54. They also have cute side cut-out details and a pull-tab on the back for easy wear!
3. Leather Jacket
Born from a similar era as the leather bootie, the leather jacket is another persistent trend. In fact, I don’t think it will ever go out of style for women.
A genuine leather jacket can cost upwards of $500 or more, depending on the brand and quality of the hide. These faux leather options are much more affordable, but this fabric is still thick, durable, and warm.
The jacket on the left is the Vegan Leather Moto Jacket from Abercrombie, costing $120. Pictured on the right is Neutral Rebel’s Night Rider Biker Jacket. This jacket comes in black and brown and sells for a reasonable price of $52.
4. Distressed Sweater
An edgy, youthful take on a timeless piece is this distressed, oatmeal-colored sweater.
Shown on the left, Urban Outfitters is retailing this UO Alston Distressed Pullover Sweater for $69. Opposite of it, we have Neutral Rebel’s All About Me Frayed Sweater going for $38. Our sweater is thicker and not see-through; it will keep you warmer through the winter, last longer, and you don’t have to layer anything underneath!
